The boards of Corinthians and Cruzeiro are in a behind-the-scenes dilemma over visitors’ ticket fees for their Copa do Brasil semi-final ties. On the one hand, Timao wants to adopt 5.2% as a parameter, while the Celestial Board wants to set a fixed number.
According to black and white calculations, the team’s fans are entitled to 3,200 tickets for the first match in Mineirão. This number represents 5.2% of the total number of seats in the stadium, which amounts to 62,000 seats. However, for the second leg, Cruzeiro fans are entitled to 2,500 tickets at the New Quimica Arena.
At the CBF event held on Wednesday (26), Corinthians President Osmar Stabile spoke about the issue. The black and white leader stated that he was facing resistance from Cruzeiro to close the ticket load.
“We talked to the technical side in Cruzeiro about the issue of tickets. We talked about 5.2%, which is what we have in terms of availability in our stadium. We also want that in Mineirão, but we are facing a lot of resistance from them. I spoke to Pedriño (SAF owner of Cruzeiro), who was able to give me an answer at the beginning of the week. We hope that will happen, Mineirão is bigger than our stadium. I think the percentage will be good. He said that there is a problem with the police from there, and that this amount may not be released. We are offering a few more boxes so We can get 5.2%, and I ask the fans to stay calm because we are working to achieve this.”
Cruzeiro said in a statement that he is dealing with the issue directly with Corinthians.
