Gremio elected consultant and economist Odorico Roman as the new team president on Saturday (10/11). The person in dispute was lawyer Paolo Calvi, who ended up being defeated in the members’ vote. Califi posted a video produced by his team in an attempt to sign Karim Benzema if he was asked to do so.

Paolo Calvi announced in a statement that the negotiations with the French striker were real, and put an end to the dispute over the Gremio presidency:
“I will never forcefully play with the fan passion of the club I love. This video was the first step in the negotiations. I noticed that I conveyed the necessary information (including potential sponsors) and made myself available to those who will lead the club. Today, I say goodbye to Gremio politics, I have fulfilled my mission, and I will leave with my head held high as a person who has always strived to give the best. I will continue to support the tricolor, because absolutely nothing can be greater!”, he wrote in the note.
