The Kunming Railway Bureau said that the train, which was carrying earthquake monitoring equipment, hit workers at a station in Yunnan province in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The train “was traveling normally around a curve inside Kunming Luoyang station when it collided with construction workers who had entered the track area,” the statement said.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
The authorities said that train service returned to normal on Thursday afternoon, and the injured were receiving treatment.
