One day is not enough to celebrate Samba daycelebrated on December 2 (Tuesday). To get you in the mood, Cidade do Samba will have three days of celebration. The itinerary includes performances by Momouzinho (Friday), Martinho da Vila (Saturday), and Zeca Bagudinho (Sunday), as well as miniature performances from the 12 schools in the special collection, four daily. The musical is written and performed by Vitor Rocha “Donatello” It tells the story of a boy who begins a creative strategy to prevent the development of his grandfather’s Alzheimer’s disease. On Samba Day, Casa Brasil opens its doors for the event “Dobras da folia: pop e popular”, which proposes a reflection on the performances of samba schools based on the story of the singer Jamilao (1913-2008) and the carnival performers Fernando Pinto (1945-1987) and Joacinho Trenta (1933-2011). One room in the cultural center is set up to resemble Rio’s parades and hosts talks and workshops. At the opening, an immersion session with Leandro Vieira and other carnival attendees (recording via Sympla).
