Madrid, November 27 (European Press) –

At least 11 workers were killed and two others were injured Thursday when they were hit by a train while carrying out a series of construction tasks on a curve of a railway track in Kunming, south China’s Yunnan Province.

Authorities indicated that the workers, who were crossing the tracks near Lujiang Station at the time of the accident, died shortly after the collision, according to information from state television channel CCTV.

Following the accident, the railway authorities immediately put in place an emergency plan and rescue operation. The injured are already receiving medical assistance.

On the other hand, the security forces opened an investigation to determine the causes of the accident, although traffic stopped for a short period.
