Valencia, November 27 (EFE).- The victims of Dana October 29, 2024, together with the entities that have supported them over the past thirteen months, protested in front of the Valencia court against the inauguration of Juanfran Pérez Jurca as president of the state with a doll with the candidate’s face that they launched on Thursday.
During the march, organized by the Acord Social Valencià platform, slogans such as “Llorca y Mazón, la mateixa merda són” and “Mazón Murder, patrons of Abascal” were chanted, along with four banners from Acord Social Valencià, the CGT and victims’ associations.
In the middle of the protest attended by a hundred people, they set up a loudspeaker to follow Juanfran Pérez Yurca’s speech over the radio broadcast, and behind one of the signs was a cardboard doll of the candidate’s face and bloody hands, just like the ones they displayed at other protests and demonstrations with a picture of Mazón.
The president of the League of Assassin Victims, Rosa Alvarez, stated that they expected “the same or worse” from Pérez’s “replacement” as his predecessor, as he would further “embrace the far right” and predicted that his rhetoric would be “more racist, more homophobic and against feminist policies and the Green Charter.”
“Those policies killed our relatives,” said Alvarez, who said he did not expect the candidate to point out the victims. He stressed that the latest news they learned about what Mazzone did in the afternoon of Dana had caused them “a lot of pain” and they must “pay and all the people responsible for that malicious administration.”
The vice president of the Victims’ Association, Carmina Gil, noted that Pérez Jurca is a “mazon defector” and that a year after the tragedy in which 229 people died in Valencia, they do not need forgiveness “neither from the next president nor from anyone who participated in the management” of these months, so they expect “little or nothing” from his speech.
Dolores Ruiz, who lost her husband and two children in the floods, said Pérez Yurca is “another person who doesn’t show his face” and called politicians “scoundrels,” and demanded justice and for Mazzone to leave his consent certificate so that a Dana judge can subpoena him to testify. He criticized, “All the lies he tells are pearls.” Evie
