The arrest was made by agents of the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime (CBZC), in a statement, according to that organization, after an investigation identified him as a perpetrator of cybercrimes against several companies in Poland and other countries.

Investigators suspect that the detainee may be linked to a group made up of several cybercriminals who have been working for months against companies in several European countries.

Minister of Digital Affairs, Krzysztof Jaukowski, recently confirmed that Poland has become “the main target of cyberattacks in the European Union.”

Gaukowski stated, “Between 2,000 to 4,000 incidents are reported daily, of which between 700 and 800 represent real threats, and many of them have a clear Russian imprint.”

Among these attacks, he mentioned the attack on a hydroelectric power station in Pomerania (north) in August 2025, the attempted attack in September on the water supply in Bydgoszcz and another attempt to hack the Polish Space Agency (POLSA).

According to the Polish government, as of October 2025, more than 170,000 cyberattacks have been recorded in the country, a number exceeding the 111,000 recorded in the whole of 2024.

Poland has responded by raising its cybersecurity budget to €1 billion, and authorities claim to have repelled 99% of attacks.
