Macron announces voluntary military service for a period of 10 months, starting in 2026

Paris, November 26 – French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Thursday the establishment of a 10-month voluntary military service starting next summer for young people aged 18-19 who will serve only in missions on national territory.

The French President said, in a speech he delivered at the Farces barracks in the French Alps, that three thousand young men will initially join voluntary military service, and it is expected to rise to ten thousand in 2030, and “according to the threat,” to fifty thousand in 2035.
