A judge admits there is a dispute between Abogados Chrysitanos and the members of the committee that approved the euthanasia of Nolia | community

The extremist Catholic platform Abujados Christianos managed to convince the judicial system to investigate members of the committee that approved the euthanasia of Noelia, a 24-year-old paralyzed girl who sought help after her death. A case from the Court of First Instance No. 20 of Barcelona recognized the treatment of the complaint made by the Association regarding the alleged crimes of forgery in a public document and evasion and decided to order preliminary investigations against the plaintiffs, whereupon a declaration must be issued in the Court of First Instance No. 12. The complainant does not dispute the reason, simply asks for an “explanation” from the accused.

Abogados Cristianos argues that both members of the Guarantee and Evaluation Commission of Catalonia raised their supposed failure to be able to bring the case to the Commission, where it was decided that assisted dying could be practiced. It is confirmed on the social network that both technicians, who had to make a decision, were forced to resolve the case by the full commission, which voted in favor of deserved death unanimously for its 19 members. Its aim was merely to further enhance the safeguards of the process, and to explain the sources of knowledge of what had happened.

Noelia suffers from “serious, painful and chronic dependency and impossible suffering” after she attempted suicide by suicide from the fifth floor in 2022, according to the committee’s report. She even stated in court that “all days are terrible and painful,” but the case is still pending in the courts after the body that oversees the correct application of the law approved, in July 2024, euthanasia, which was appealed before the courts. A first judicial failure allowed the decision to be halted, which was set for August 2, 2024, through an appeal filed by Abogados Christianos, on behalf of the priest.

The Supreme Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) ratified the ruling last September, but this judicial decision is also awaiting what the Supreme Court says in the latest case. The case rests on the basis of law, but the Supreme Court of the Supreme Court gives the priest the option of filing an appeal, and Abogados Christianos, who represents him, has announced his intention to file it. The decision of the Supreme Court will ring true in the case of the young Noelia, a bell that could trigger the legalization of other priests in the case of similar petitions from their children. This case is the first to be brought to court in Spain to provide assistance to the dying.
