The Mayor of the City of La Plata, Julio Alaque, participated in the opening ceremony of the 60th Anniversary International Conference of the Faculty of Dentistry (FOLP) of the National University of La Plata (UNLP), which will continue until Saturday, November 29 at the Sergio Karakashov Postgraduate and Conference Center.
Over the course of the three days and with the aim of creating spaces for exchange that promote the building of a more ethical, supportive and engaged dentistry, there will be talks, lunches, meetings, workshops and other activities.
In addition, during the opening ceremony, the 55th anniversary of the first batch of the college was celebrated through the presentation of diplomas and Professor Emeritus Dr. María Mercedes Medina was honored with an honorary doctorate.
“It is a privilege to accompany the College of Dentistry on this anniversary, which reflects six decades of training, research and commitment to public health,” Alack said. “This conference renews this call, taking into account the new challenges of dental education and care, and strengthening ties with the La Plata community.”
Present were the President of the UNLP, Martin López Armengol, the Institutional Vice President of the UNLP, Andrea Mariana Varela, the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Gabriel Lazo, the Vice Dean, María Mercedes Medina, and the President of the Congress, Georgina Santangelo.
Also the President of the La Plata Dental Association, Dardo Pereira, the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry of UBA, Pablo Alejandro Rodríguez, the President of the Dental Association of Periso, La Plata and Ensenada, Sergio Corochet, and the President of the Dentists Fund, Rosanna Asencio.
In addition, authorities and representatives of the UNLP Secretariats, the Faculty of Dentistry of La Plata and other national and private dental schools, national and international speakers, scholarship holders, students and alumni participated.
