It’s a shame, but clearly there are a number of games we can call ”black holes”. GTA VI is one of them, which is why no 2026 title wants to match Rockstar’s future success.
Another is GOTY 2025 nominee Hollow Knight: Silksong, whose release in early September caused an earthquake on social media… and also a serious danger to the games that accompanied it.
With no time to react, games like Cronos: The New Dawn were seen competing with one of the most anticipated titles in yearsand that caused they sold much less than they deserved.
After proving the success of Silent Hill 2 Remake, Bloober Team opted for a new IP of horror and action mixed with science fiction. Cronos is a great game, but for now it’s not the success you might have expected in the Polish study.
Through Twitter/X, they revealed updated sales of the title on all platforms since launch, including those of the physical version of the Nintendo Switch 2.
Yet, Cronos: The New Dawn sold 500,000 games in almost 3 monthsand Bloober fans hope it will soon reach a million copies.
Cronos got the timing wrong, but he can still redeem himself
From its release on September 5th until now, Cronos: The New Dawn has already sold 500 thousand games between PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PCadding physical and digital sales.
There are half a million games in 3 months, a fact that, without being bad, is disappointing for Bloober coming off a success like Silent Hill 2 Remake.
Despite this, the Polish studio has celebrated the news with its followers on social media, waiting for new travelers to join Cronos facing the Christmas season.
”500,000 travelers are already traversing the unforgiving world, warped between timelines! For yet another incredible achievement for CronosNewDawn, thank you from the bottom of my heart! The vocation continues!”.
