Although Ubisoft took advantage of the good sales of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the fact is that Eight months after its launch, we still don’t have concrete numbers.
The game remains active through content updates and special events; as well as The Claws of Awaji expansion, releasing this summer.
But it looks like this DLC will remain unique: Ubisoft rules out releasing a second expansionsomething unheard of in the latest editions of the franchise.

First DLC for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, in which Naoe and Yasuke travel to a new island to try to find their mother. There, they will encounter a new faction and challenges.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will no longer have expansions
In statements made to JorRaptor, Shadows Associate Director Simon Lemay-Comtoisruled out the possibility of the game receiving a second expansion.
“Right now, and looking at the game’s second year, we no longer plan expansions like Awaji”. Loud and clear: this will be the only relevant DLC.
But at the time of its presentation, The Claws of Awaji It was defined as “the first” expansion of the game; Not the only one I would have.
It is an unprecedented fact since AC Origins, which we remember had two DLCS. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey received two more expansions, and Valhalla wrapped up the cycle with three additional paid content.
These three games also had small DLCs and free updatessomething that will apparently integrate most of Shadows’ content in its second year… But nothing more.
In that regard, Lemay-Comtois believes 2026 content will be more timely but interestingsimilar to the crossover event with Attack on Titan.
It is inevitable to think about the case of Mortal Kombat 1. Poor sales of its Reign of Kaos DLC (and rumored poor performance of the main game) caused updates to be cancelled.
This leaves three possible scenarios: That AC Shadows didn’t sell enough, a weak boost for its expansion; or that Ubisoft is about to focus its efforts on the next chapter of the saga.
Recent information indicates that the game team is already preparing a new project. Furthermore, statements from the game director indicate that There may not be a “Year 3” of content for Shadows.
Lemay-Comtois leaves a door open, in the sense that the game follows Mirage’s example; a title that, surprisingly and years later, has just launched an expansion (also free).
Ubisoft appears to have lowered its expectations with Assassin’s Creed Shadowsruling out that it will receive a second expansion. On December 2nd, the Nintendo Switch 2 version arrives, joining those of the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
