Today at noon, the Oral Criminal Court No. 4 of La Plata will pronounce the verdict of the trial that followed Hector Carrizo (65 years old) on suspicion of having committed murder in a gender context.
The hearing will be held starting at 12 o’clock in one of the rooms on the ground floor of the La Plata Criminal Court, located at 8 between 56 and 57.
The accused was tried for the death of Romina Videla, whose death occurred as a result of a recorded accident on March 27, 2020 in a modest house located at 519 between 184 and 185, in the town of Melchor Romero.
According to the investigation conducted by UFI No. 17 headed by Maria Eugenia Di Lorenzo, Carrizo had threatened Videla, then removed the six children who lived with the couple from the house and ultimately caused a devastating fire.
Videla suffered burns to 80 percent of her body and died days later at Alejandro Corn Hospital.
Since then, Carrizo has been detained, although his technical and private defense, led by Dr. Juan de Nardo, claims his innocence due to lack of evidence.
Meanwhile, the Public Prosecution Office requested that Lukasz Domski be sentenced to life imprisonment.
In parallel, the accused’s relatives publicly expressed their conviction of Carrizo’s innocence, claiming that there were no objective elements linking him to the incident. They indicated that “it was an accident.”
On the other hand, those close to Videla reported that she had already been the victim of previous bouts of sexual violence and that Carrizo had displayed aggressive behavior.
Last Wednesday, as part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Momala announced the numbers from her observatory. According to the data, 231 murders were committed from January to November, 901 attempted murders, and 157 children were left without their mothers.
Furthermore, in 68% of cases, the assailant was the victim’s partner or ex-partner, and 65% of the women were killed in their homes.
This year, additionally, 15 percent of female homicides had prior complaints.
