Fraport has been awarded the concession to operate its third airport in Brazil starting in the fall of 2026

Fraport has won a public tender for the concession of Brazil’s Jericoacoara Airport, which will begin operating in the fall of 2026, and which will be its third airport in the country after Fortaleza and Porto Alegre, according to a statement.

This tender is part of the Brazilian government’s AmpliAR programme, which consists of integrating regional airports into existing concessions. The contract, which will be valid until 2047, is scheduled to be signed in the spring of 2026, pending final approvals.

Specifically, the concession covers the operation of the passenger terminal, as well as other land and air infrastructure, including commercial areas and parking lots.

In addition, the German Airports Group has committed to making investments to modernize its facilities during the first three years of its operation.

Jericoacoara Airport welcomed approximately 212,000 passengers in 2024. Fraport has been operating in Brazil since 2017, operating Fortaleza and Porto Alegre airports under two independent concessions.
