13 killed in an Israeli army incursion into Syria – DW – 11/28/2025

The number of deaths at the hands of Israeli army forces during their incursion, today, Friday (11/28/2025), in the Syrian town of Beit Jinn on the outskirts of Damascus, rose to 13, and the number of wounded to dozens. For its part, the Israeli army confirmed that six of its reserve soldiers were injured.

The Director General of Health in the Damascus Countryside Governorate, Tawfiq Hisbah, told the official Syrian News Agency (SANA) that the events that occurred this morning during the raid on the area caused the death of 13 people and the injury of “dozens” of residents. The Israeli army did not confirm this.

SANA did not specify exactly how each of the victims of Beit Jinn died, which was bombed by the Israeli army after surrounding the attackers, and where clashes also broke out with residents, according to state television. Compulsory.

The civil defense group known as the White Helmets, which has now been integrated into Syrian government institutions, reported that its teams were unable to reach the town until 10:00 a.m. local time (7:00 GMT), because Israeli forces attacked any point with “movement” at the entrances to the town.

Israel: Search for members of the Lebanese Islamic group “Al-Gamaa Al-Islamiyya”.

According to the Israeli army’s account, its operation was aimed at searching for members of the Lebanese Islamist group Jama’a al-Islamiyya, which was supposedly based on the outskirts of the Syrian capital, and in fact, two alleged members of that group were arrested during the raid.

After the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, a year ago, the government of Israel, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, sent forces to the demilitarized zone in the Golan Heights and the Syrian side of Mount Hermon, where it still maintains positions it considers essential for its security and the “defense” of the Syrian Druze minority.

The Israeli army bombs Syrian territory from time to time, as it did repeatedly this summer, when it decided to intervene on behalf of the Druze during internal clashes in southern Syria.

However, recent months have mostly seen ground incursions into the border governorates, sometimes as far north as the outskirts of Damascus.
