The head of the New Patriotic Party, Aitor Esteban, believes that the “fissures” of the state are “frequently strained and broken,” with parliamentary instability such that “it is practically impossible to achieve a majority.” Esteban, the leader of one of the government’s partners in Congress, responded in this way, in statements to journalists, to the question of whether an election call should be issued in Spain.
“The strata of the state are tense and even frequently fractured; on the ground there is the entrance to the Ábalos prison, the Santos Cerdán prison, and the public prosecutor’s prison, despite the parliamentary instability that makes it practically impossible to achieve a majority,” Esteban emphasized.
On the contrary, there is a hint that “fortunately, the scene is very different in Euskadi”, with a stable government majority and “political debate and noise that are normal and within the parameters that a democratic system requires”.
