Madrid, November 28 (European Press) –
The head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak, the right-hand man of the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, submitted his resignation on Friday after the Ukrainian anti-corruption agency carried out a series of inspections in his administration as part of a corruption investigation.
Zelensky announced in a recorded speech that this position “will be renewed” after Yermak submitted his resignation, but he has not yet announced the names of his future replacement, according to what was published by the Ukrainian presidency.
The head of state declared, “I thank you for always presenting the Ukrainian position in the negotiations with due accuracy. It has always been a national position. But I want there to be no rumors or speculation.”
In this sense, he indicated that this change comes because he does not want “anyone to have doubts about Ukraine,” in the midst of negotiations – with the American side – to end the Russian invasion, which began in February 2022.
The records in Yermak’s office arrived days after the discovery of an alleged network surrounding the Ukrainian energy sector. Anti-corruption agencies then searched the headquarters of the state atomic energy company Energoatom.
