October saw the historic maximum number of passengers traveling by plane in Argentina

According to a report published by the Argentine National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC), October set a new historic passenger record for commercial air traffic in Argentina.

In that period, about 4.29 million passengers used airports in Argentina. This represents a 3% increase over the previous record set in October 2023. It was about 10 percentage points higher than in October 2024, which marks the October with the highest number of passengers in this section in Argentina’s history.

As for international passengers, Argentine airports received about 1.28 million people that month. Compared to October 2024, the number of international passengers increased by 16%, Which confirms the recovery of international travel after the pandemic.

Domestic travel also saw an increase, with 3 million passengers traveling within Argentina. This represents an increase of 8%, indicating stable growth in the domestic aviation sector.

Regarding total air movements, Argentina saw an increase from 31,268 to 33,902 in the same period, representing 8% in the year, which confirms that airlines are working to increase supply and operations.

Regarding the increase in international traffic compared to October of last year, Salta saw the largest increase, with the number of international passengers traveling to and from the airport increasing by 62%. Cordoba and Aeroparque also saw significant increases in traffic, by 56% and 38% respectively. Ezeiza recorded a growth of 5%.

The major international routes that grew the most since October last year were all from Cordoba, With an 81% increase in flights to Rio, 62% to Lima, and 55% to Panama.

According to the report, these record increases in passenger and airline traffic can be attributed to the “Open Skies” policy, which eases restrictions on routes, frequency and ownership, and to “The process of deregulation implemented by the national government, which allowed the expansion of the road network, the addition of new operators and the promotion of a more dynamic, efficient and growth-oriented market.”
