Cartagena Peñiscola and Inter Palma, men’s Spanish Super Cup semi-final

The presence of prominent figures, such as world champion coach Lionel Scaloni, marked the draw for the Men’s Spanish Futsal Super Cup, an event that simultaneously became the beginning of the celebration of the centenary of the Balearic Islands Football Association. As reported by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the event took place on Wednesday at the Aubamar Suites & Spa Hotel in Palma de Mallorca, where Scaloni was responsible for extracting the balls that decided the semi-final ties for the next edition of the tournament.

According to what was published by the Spanish Football Federation, the draw determined that the teams of Gympie Cartagena, Costa Caleda, and Servigroup Peñiscola will face each other in one of the semi-final matches, while in the other match, Movistar Inter and Elice Balleres Palma Futsal will face each other. The tournament will be held on January 3-4, 2026 at the Palau Municipal d’Esports in Son Moix, a venue that will host some of the most emblematic and illustrious clubs in national futsal.

During the event, Jordi Huarache, President of the Football Federation of the Balearic Islands (FFIB), emphasized the symbolic importance of hosting the Super Cup in the year of the centenary celebrations of the Federation he heads. According to the Spanish Futsal Federation, Huarache confirmed: “I want to thank the National Futsal Committee and José Miguel Monge, because they understood from the first moment that the centenary of our federation will be important next year and the Spanish Futsal Super Cup will be the starting signal.”

The President of the National Futsal Committee, José Miguel Monge, also spoke at the event and highlighted the importance of this cup within the Spanish Futsal calendar. Monge said, according to information published by the Spanish Federation: “There are two main titles in futsal, which are the Spanish Cup and the Super Cup. The elite are there. The champions of champions play here.”

The draw, which was conducted in Palma de Mallorca with the assistance of the futsal authorities and representatives of the participating teams, determined, as detailed by the governing body, the clubs classified as champions of the matches that bring together, year after year, the most competitive teams in the field. Cartagena, Peñiscola, Movistar Inter and Palma Futsal will all seek to win this year’s first title, in a format that brings together the champions of the main national competitions of the previous year.

Spanish Football Federation media have published details about the format and venue, highlighting that the Palau Municipal d’Esports stadium in Son Moix will serve as the venue for the semi-finals and final that will determine the champion of this edition. The anticipation generated by the presence of Lionel Scaloni in the draw has added an element of interest to a competition that generates interest every year in terms of the level of participants and the meaning it carries for the fans involved.

All the champions highlighted the value of the Super Cup as a calendar opener and an incentive for futsal clubs, whose competition is aware of the prestige involved in winning the title. The tournament, which brings together the most prominent teams on the national scene, represents an opportunity to enhance the image of futsal in the Spanish sporting context.
