
Today is a sad day on the entertainment scene. We have just learned that Danny Seagren, famous puppeteer and actor who worked on the popular children’s series Sesame Streetdied at age 81.
As collected Weekly entertainmentThe interpreter’s family made the interpreter’s obituary public, revealing that he passed away on November 10, just five days before his 82nd birthday.
For now the causes of his death are unknownbut those closest to him say he died while enjoying his retirement in Little River, South Carolina.
Farewell to Danny Seagren, the first live-action Spider-Man in history
Born on November 15, 1943, Danny Seagren moved to New York and, in 1968, met Jim Hensoncreator of Dolls (also known around here as Muppets) and Fraggle Rock.
Thus, Seagren became Henson’s disciple as a puppeteer and puppet maker, participating in the iconic Sesame Street.
Although he will always be remembered for his career as a puppeteer, the actor also had the privilege of being the first artist to incorporate a live action version of Spider-Manthe famous Marvel superhero.
Seagren became television’s first live-action Spider-Man in 1974 through The Electric Companythe sister series of Sesame Streetstarring Rita Moreno and Morgan Freeman, and produced by Children’s Television Workshop, the predecessor of Sesame Workshop.
The actor appeared as Spider-Man about three dozen times throughout the series’ nearly 400-episode run, where he battled childish villains like Funny Bunny, Mr. Measles, Babysitter, Birthday Bandit, Spoiler, and Prankster.
