An episode of high tension occurred on Thursday in the heart of the city of La Plata, when the driver of a Rampage pickup truck encountered a group of Socialist Workers Party demonstrators at the intersection of 6 and 50, directly in front of Passaje Dardo Rocha and meters away from Plaza San Martin.
The protest, which occupied part of the road, caused delays in an area witnessing heavy vehicle traffic. In this context, the car driver advanced until he became attached to the line of demonstrators, which led to an exchange of shouting, discussions, and angry gestures between the two parties.
Witnesses indicated that the situation became tense for a few minutes: the demonstrators partially surrounded the car while the driver insisted on letting it pass. The scene caught the attention of pedestrians and pedestrians who were in the square and in the Pasaji commercial area.
Finally, the situation deescalated when other people intervened in mobilizing to order passage and prevent escalation of the conflict. The driver was able to reverse and leave the scene, although eyewitnesses said that they “hit him and caused a dent in the truck.”
