After the harsh defeat against Vasco on Friday evening (28), Internacional’s president, Alessandro Barcelos, commented firmly on the risk of the club’s relegation to the second division of the Brazilian championship. The manager confirmed in a press conference that Colorado will not be relegated to the second division.
He said, “I have complete confidence in the players and the technical staff that we will overcome this stage. Internazionale will not fall. We must believe, work and fight until the end to turn this difficult year into a different 2026.”
Barcelos also admitted his share of responsibility for the team’s poor performance. According to him, the decisions of the Board of Directors and Board of Directors are part of the problem, but there is a conviction that the situation can be changed.
He stressed, “The responsibility lies with us, not only with the technical committee, but also with the administration that built this group. We assume that and continue to trust that it is possible to respond. We will discuss additional measures, but the most important thing is that we will fight until the end to ensure that Inter remains in the Italian League in 2026.”
With the setback against Cariocas, Internacional fell to 16th place, adding 41 points. The difference for Vitoria, which has 39 points and still plays against Mirasol on Saturday (29), is only two points. If Bahian wins, Colorado will finish the round in the relegation zone.
Inter will have two crucial commitments to determine its future: it will face São Paulo next Wednesday (3), at 8 pm, in Vila Belmiro, in matchday 37, and finish its participation against RB Bragantino, on Sunday (7), at 4 pm, in Beira Rio.
