Alan was brutally murdered on Friday, in Civit, the Maracanã campus. The news saddens us and leaves a void between friends, regulars and our entire community.

On social media, Alan used to share videos of the stage. His last post on Instagram Stories was on Friday morning: “Great Friday with this poetry,” he wrote of a video in which he sang Caetano Veloso’s “Queixa.”

The shooting attack occurred inside the Civit unit in Maracanã on Friday (28). The fire department was called at 3:50 p.m. Staff member João Antonio Miranda Tello Ramos arrived at the unit in the morning and greeted everyone normally. In the afternoon, he entered the administration and fired shots, wounding the two women who worked in the Education Department. Alan was shot in the head and shoulder, and Laise in the head and chest.

The gunman then committed suicide. Night shift classes have been cancelled.

Military Police reported that, according to the command of the 6th BPM (Tijuca), the Military Police were called, on Friday afternoon, after a shooting was recorded inside an educational unit in Maracanã.

At the scene, security forces found two injured women, who were treated by the fire department and transferred to the hospital unit. Alan and Liz did not survive their injuries.

The Prime Minister added that teams searched the institution’s headquarters and found the body of a man suspected of being the perpetrator of the shooting.

The institution said in a memorandum issued this evening, “The General Directorate of Giftit/Royal Jordanian deeply regrets this tragedy that shocked the academic community and declares official mourning for five days in the institution, starting 01/12/2025.”

Jonatam Araujo, 19, a student at CIFFT, says he heard four gunshots during class. An employee ran to warn that someone with a gun was in the establishment.

—Then a police officer came and ordered everyone to stay in their places. After the agents searched, they asked us to leave. I even saw someone get shot for help.

Student Maria Beatriz Albuquerque, 18, said she was in the yard at the time of the shooting. She claims she initially thought it was construction work at the establishment and only realized the danger when she saw a friend running and saying there were gunshots.

-I even thought it was a joke. But we later saw employees asking to call an ambulance to help someone who had been shot. I never imagined this would happen here. “There was a lot of rush,” he says.

Philosophy student at UFRJ, Adrynni Emannuele, 26 years old, has been an intern at Cefet for 6 months. She says she had just passed the roulette wheel when she saw the rush of students and staff:

– I hid in the cafeteria until the police said it was safe to come out.

Maria Emanuela da Silva, 18, says the school was full at the time of the shooting. The third year students were having an end-of-year party. She talks about the climate of panic that arose in the school:

— The staff asked us to call the police and Samo. Everyone started to feel desperate, but they didn’t understand what to do. Some asked us to leave and the rush started. “We were lucky because we were able to organize ourselves on the way out using the turnstiles and no one was hurt,” the student says.

Physics professor Hilario Rodriguez was teaching about 25 students when two students alerted him to the possible shooting. Not knowing whether this was true or not, he told a colleague in the next room and decided not to let any of the students leave.

– We were on the third floor and the accident happened on the first floor. Shortly thereafter, two police officers asked us to stay in the rooms, and only then did another group of police officers ask us to leave. We had no training to get out of a situation like this or a fire. “We did it out of a protective instinct,” he says.

Alan, PhD and singer

Alain de Souza Pedrotti Matos received her PhD in Literature from PUC-RJ, with research in the field of applied linguistics, completed in 2020. Part of her PhD was in Denmark, at the University of Copenhagen, where she developed research and taught a bachelor’s course as a guest professor. This trial was funded by the Higher Education Staff Improvement Coordination (HEPs).

She graduated in Pedagogy from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 2006, and specialized in Psychokinesis from the Cándido Mendes University in 2008. She obtained a Master’s degree in Management Systems at the Federal University of Fluminense (UFF).

She currently works as a coordinator of the pedagogical and academic team of the Teaching Directorate of CEFET/RJ in coordination of vocational and technological education for secondary education, where she works with pedagogical and academic assistance. He was also Chairman of the General Committee for Sustainability and Success and was a member and coordinator of all Maracana Unit Study and Implementation Committees for Technical Vocational Education for Secondary Level (EPTNM) and other management committees, in addition to being a member of the Heterogeneous Identity Committee (CHET).

Liz, first place in the competition, is passionate about music and dance

Layse Costa Pinheiro, a federal public servant in Cefet-RJ, took first place in the 2014 competition for the position of psychiatrist.

She worked in the field of people management between 2014 and 2017 and in the field of school psychology from November 2017.

She graduated in Psychology from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (Uerj) in 2013, specializing in People Management at Faculdade Internacional Signorelli, and completed the course in 2019.

The professional held an incomplete master’s degree (interrupted in December 2017) in the graduate program in Social Psychology at UERJ, and placed first in the 2016 selection.
