Two people were seriously injured in a night shooting in Cologne (Germany)

Two men were seriously injured in a shooting incident that occurred Friday night in the German city of Cologne, in the west of the country, an event in which the suspect has already been arrested, according to local police and the public prosecutor’s office.

Authorities explained that the alleged attacker, a 27-year-old young man, was arrested near the scene of the incident during the night, and was accused of firing several shots amid an altercation. The projectiles wounded two men, aged 46 and 53, and they were taken to hospital in serious condition.

The incident occurred in a parking lot located next to the assembly hall where, according to the authorities, a dinner party was being held at full capacity, but the event was not affected by the gunfire. The dispute reportedly involved several other people before the shooting.

No further details have yet been revealed about the origin of the confrontation, the weapon used, or the possible relationship between the detainee and the injured person, although the police homicide unit announced that it had already launched an investigation to clarify the facts.

The officers involved in the incident indicated that all available evidence was collected and analyzed, including various pieces of evidence obtained from the scene and interviews conducted with many witnesses, with the aim of reconstructing what happened.
