Savers bought $4,669 million in October

Savers bought US$4,669 million in October, according to the report “Evolution of the Foreign Exchange Market and Exchange Balance” published by the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA). This figure is down from $5,080 million in September, the highest monthly value since at least 2002.

Since the partial lifting of stocks, in mid-April, the Argentines have claimed a total of US$22.305 million for hoarding. This reflects the high level of coverage people received before the elections.

Breaking down the year so far, the numbers indicate: April ($2,048 million), May ($2,262 million), June ($2,416 million), July ($3,308 million), August ($2,422 million), and September ($5,080 million). Meanwhile, sales were US$111 million, US$308 million, US$396 million, US$367 million, US$562 million, and US$575 million, respectively. In net, the accumulated amount since the easing of exchange restrictions amounted to US$19,513 million.

If acquisitions of companies and transfers to accounts abroad are added to the purchases of people, the so-called formation of foreign assets (FAE), the net balance with the private sector was negative at $4,056 million. In October, it reached US$6,577 million, the highest amount since the creation of the MLA, according to the Argentine Political Economy Center (CEPA). The accumulated amount for this year amounts to 28,551 million US dollars.
