Alcombre points out “there was no war” with Lula

The President of the Federal Senate, Davy Alcolombre (UN-Brasil), pointed out to his interlocutors that “we are not at war” with Lula, refuting the narrative taking place behind the scenes of power in Brasilia. In a private conversation, the senator said he “loves” the president and “maintains respect” for him.

The letter comes after the National Congress session that overturned Lula’s veto on various laws last Thursday (11/27). The vote was interpreted by some as retaliation by Alcolombre against the government, and the vote was actually scheduled before President of the Republic nominated Jorge Mesías for STF membership.

At the time, Palacio do Planalto requested that a vote on the veto be taken after the 30th session of the COP. The Columbri answered. Despite the tense atmosphere that followed Messias’ nomination to the Supreme Court, Alclumbri denies that there is a personal war between him and Lula.

There was a cooling in the relationship because Lula did not respond to Duffy’s request to nominate Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD), the preferred name of the Senate, for the vacancy that had arisen in the Special Task Force with the departure of Barroso. However, this mismatch should not bury the good relationship that still exists between them.
