Cefet shooter was removed from duty due to psychological problems

João Antonio Miranda Tello Gonçalves, the author of the shooting attack on the Federal Center for Technological Education Celso Soco da Fonseca (CEVET) that left two people dead, has been away from work for 60 days due to psychological problems. This case happened on Friday (11/28) in the northern region of Rio de Janeiro.

According to preliminary investigations, the shooter, an employee of the Cevit company, wanted to return to the sector where one of the victims worked. Furthermore, João has expressed discomfort with women leading, as described in Meryl Pinheiro’s column.

The attack occurred around 3:50 pm on Friday. The first victim of the shooting was the Director of the Department of Monitoring and Development of Education (DIACE), Alain de Souza Pedrotti Matos.

The man then went to Civit’s room, where psychiatrist Liz Costa Pinheiro was, and hit her on the head and stomach. After the attack, Joao committed suicide.
