On Saturday (29), the Federal Police launched the Operation Flight Plan, which seeks to deepen investigations into the bomb threat on board the Azul flight on August 7 this year.
The threat could be found in a message left in one of the plane’s bathrooms.
The plane that left São Luís, in Maranhão, heading to Campinas, inside São Paulo, made an emergency landing in Brasilia due to the accident.
On that occasion, police forces conducted a bomb-proof inspection of the aircraft and ruled out the presence of an explosive device. The plane was allowed to return to work. In theory, the act constitutes crimes of threatening and assaulting the safety of air transport.
In the action that took place on Saturday, a search and seizure warrant was executed at an address linked to the main one being investigated, in Santa Catarina. The National Front did not reveal her identity or what was found at the scene.
According to the French police, investigations remain confidential, with the aim of clarifying the circumstances of the accident and its possible links to similar behavior recorded at other airports in the country.
Shortly after the incident, in August, Azul said in a statement that the flight declared a state of emergency and was forced to land in Brasilia, precautionarily, due to security issues involving the threat of an artifact being on board.
The company said: “The landing took place normally, and the customers and crew disembarked in complete safety. Azul will ensure all necessary support after obtaining permission from the authorities. The company emphasizes that such measures are necessary to ensure the safety of its operations, which is a core value of Azul.”
The plane, registered PR-YSK, carried a special plate of the Disney character Margarida.
