70,100 martyrs in Gaza as a result of Israeli attacks – DW – 11/29/2025

The death toll in the Gaza Strip due to the Israeli attack that began in October 2023 reached 70,100, today, Saturday (11/29/2025), after hundreds of bodies were identified by the local Ministry of Health controlled by Hamas, the movement that the European Union considers terrorist. There is a fragile agreement to stop hostilities in the region.

The Ministry explained in a statement that “the number of victims of the Israeli aggression has risen to 70,100 and 170,983 wounded since October 7, 2023,” adding that 299 bodies were added to the total number after verification by the responsible government committee. The numbers provided by the Gaza Strip authorities are considered reliable by the United Nations.

The Ministry also confirmed the death of a Gazan citizen in an Israeli bombing on Friday in southern Gaza, in addition to 11 other wounded who arrived at hospitals during the past two days. Since the ceasefire began on October 10, at least 354 people have been killed, according to the ministry, while about 900 Palestinians have been injured.

Deep crisis

In addition, Civil Defense rescue teams recovered more than 600 lifeless bodies among tons of rubble in the devastated sector, where more than 80 percent of its buildings were completely destroyed or damaged. Despite the ceasefire, the Palestinian territories remain mired in a deep humanitarian crisis.

Israel continues to control 54% of the Gaza Strip, after its forces retreated to the so-called “yellow line,” where it continues to fire on an almost daily basis against Palestinians whom the army claims are getting too close to them. The conflict in Gaza erupted with a Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed 1,221 people. On that day, Islamist militants also kidnapped 251 people and took them to Gaza.
