Vitoria defeated Mirasol late Saturday afternoon (29), in the 36th round of the Brazilian Championship. Thanks to goals from Lukas Halter and Matthewsinho, Rubro Negro climbed out of the relegation zone and is now breathing in the final stage of the competition.
Vitoria left Z-4 and put Internacional on the cutting table. They now have 42 points, compared to Colorado’s 41 points. With two rounds remaining until the end of the Brazilian Championship, every point counts in this battle.
The game
The match started off crowded and showed each team’s strategies. Mirasol thought it best to exchange passes to create play, while Vitoria favored quick counter-attacks and with one movement, Lucas Halter opened the score 1-0. Sao Paulo’s best chance was a ball that hit the crossbar from Alisson.
In the second stage, Mirasol lost control a little and the Bahian team began to press. At the end of the match, he won a penalty kick and Matteusinho gave Vitoria the win at Paradão.
Upcoming commitments
Vitoria returns to the field on December 3 and faces right-back RB Bragantino. Before that, Mirasol faces Vasco on Tuesday, 2.
