Curious: Solving the company’s crisis – 11/29/2025 – Readers’ Panel

The company should close. The world has changed, but the Post Office has not kept pace.

Antonio Barros Tavares (Araguana, MA)

There are two solutions. The first is to conduct audits, invest in new technologies and outsource part of the services. The other thing, in addition to investing in technology, is openness to private capital. In other words, turning Curios into a mixed economy company.

Andre Reis dos Santos (Teresina, B)

The post office should be privatized! This way, we won’t have to pay for ridiculous losses. Where have you ever seen a company provide such slow and poor service and still stay afloat? If it had been a private company, the company would have already gone bankrupt and made way for a better company.

Henrique Gomez Nunes (Sao Paulo, SP)

Expanding municipal activities to generate more revenues and collect embezzled funds.

Dennis Accurso (Porto Alegre, RS)

Is there a crisis? A shortage in basic services is expected. The solution is to stop canceling services, as Temer and Bolsonaro did, and invest in marketing Mace Curios.

Jimmy Graciano (Sao Paulo, SP)

The solution is to return the profit to the company itself. If it is missing, the treasury supports it, as the service focuses on social profit. Brazil, as a continental country with a majority of small and remote municipalities, needs a general logistics service for mail and parcels and, essentially, the presence of government services. There are cities that do not have a bank or lottery, but do have a post office. Outsourcing the centuries-old company would cost more than keeping it public.

Rafael Moraes (Joao Monlivadi, MG)

It is necessary to exclude all political appointments and allow positions to be filled by permanent employees. In addition, cancel all contracts with third-party companies.

Ivan Oliveira dos Santos (Salvador, BA)

The best solution for Curios is partial privatization, with public-private partnerships, leaving the huge logistics centers to private operations, and the smaller ones to public operations.

Fernando Coche Rodriguez (Salto, SP)

The post office was not created to make a profit, but to fulfill a social role, just like those in the United States, which make an annual loss. The Brazilian government must assume its social role and inject resources, as an essential company for national integration.

Lidio Ricardo Lima da Silva (Vitoria, ES)

The solution is to save money, even if it is through sponsoring shows, exhibitions and cinema.

Nazareth Silva (Sao Paulo, SP)

A complete restructuring is needed. First, fire everyone who doesn’t add to the company. This does not mean firing postmen and attendants, but rather directors and managers with an emphasis on political appointment positions, as they are the ones who earn more, work less and magnify the losses with their wrong decisions. Then close branches in multi-unit cities. Furthermore, it is possible to combine agencies and distribution centers, depending on local demand.

Paulo Nolberto dos Santos Alarcón (Kakabava, SP)

If import taxes are reduced and delivery fees are increased, Correios will be able to sustain itself. An organization can expand its goods delivery service through motorcycle couriers, for example, increasing competition with other companies.

Ellenson Paulino da Silva (Guarulhos, SP)
