After living for years in Europe, and passing through many clubs, Danilo returned to Brazil in January of this year to fulfill his dream of defending the colors of his favorite team. He spent a long period in reserve for the duo Leo Pereira-Leo Ortiz. But the opportunity came at a crucial moment. And the most generous shirt. “I said before the game that obviously we had a lot of sacrifices as a team and within the training center that we can share. Everyone has their own sacrifices that no one sees. What I asked is that we put our soul upon these sacrifices that no one sees – and that we carry every day into our home, into our home.”
Danilo dedicates the victory to his father

“My father is also a Flamengo fan. I couldn’t be here with everyone to watch the match because my aunt died yesterday. It was a difficult moment. But my mother and brothers were here. I wanted to dedicate this victory to my family and especially to him.”
Danilo also said that when he was a boy dreaming of football, he never imagined he would achieve such success.
I never imagined playing the finals like this. I never imagined I would get this far. What I would say to Danilo De Becas (the player’s hometown) is: “Allow yourself to dream.” Because if you can dream it, you can do it. “I came back to fulfill my childhood dream and win.”
Regarding his selection as a starter, and leaving Ortiz on the bench, Danilo said:
“Filipe Luis is a smart boy, he follows things every day and plays based on merit and game strategy. If it were Ortiz, we would be strong in the same way. Obviously I know my importance and play with more concentration. There was a moment when the ball got away from me, but the final was won anyway. A feeling without words, the penny has not sunk in yet. Later I will really understand everything.”
