So, The firefighters were surprised by another unexpected piece of information: a microchip revealed that Cookie Marie had a family and lived only ten kilometers away.. She had been missing for several months.
The Montgomery County District 9 Emergency Services team was stunned by the news, and even more devastated when they found out Veterinarians could not treat her without the consent of her legal guardians. The team spent a week worrying about their dog, who has become a source of joy and comfort since her arrival.
Eventually, Cookie Marie’s family responded and agreed to officially sign over ownership to the station chief. Cookie Marie underwent surgery this week.
