Bortoletti, who was elected mayor by the PSDB and actually worked as an advisor to Deputy Professor Bonato, had his conviction upheld at the second stage by the Court of Justice.
As she approaches the conclusion of her term at the head of Rio Grande do Sul’s Private Sector Development Directorate, former Pelotas Mayor Paola Mascarenhas has strongly criticized Viamao Mayor Rafael Bortoletti, convicted of publishing intimate audio recordings of his ex-partner and trying to influence witnesses.
Paula stated that she is about to leave the presidency of the state and given the departure of part of the executive authority to the Public Security Directorate, she does not feel the legitimacy to implement internal sanctions. However, she hopes that the new leadership of the party will take the case to the Ethics Committee.
Bortoletti, who was elected mayor by the PSDB and actually worked as an advisor to Deputy Professor Bonato, had his conviction upheld the second time by the Court of Justice. The sentence stipulates six years, four months and 14 days of semi-open imprisonment, for crimes covered by the Maria da Penha Law. The case dates back to 2019, when he allegedly revealed intimate content to his then-partner during a party meeting and offered benefits to witnesses. The defense can still appeal to the Supreme Court, but its requests for clarification have been rejected.
Paula’s departure as state head of the PSDB party, which will take place on Sunday 30th of this month, has been extended until December 5th, the date on which the new interim leadership will be announced.
