A woman was hospitalized in serious condition after being stabbed by her ex-partner early Sunday in the Mallorca town of Costitx. The attacker had a valid restraining order prohibiting him from approaching the victim.
The incident occurred around 5:12 a.m., when the woman was leaving a party at a house on the outskirts of this town inside the island. The man violated the protection order for the VioGén system and attacked the woman with a knife, according to the Guardia Civil.
After the attack, the alleged perpetrator sustained injuries and was treated by emergency services. They were taken to hospital, where they remain in police custody.
The Armed Institute opened an investigation to clarify what happened and confirm the circumstances of the attack.
After learning the facts, the head of the Balearic government, Marga Bruhinz, “strongly” condemned this new case of sexual violence. He noted on the “X” social media network, “All IBDona services are widespread and available to the victim and his environment. All my affection and support to the family and friends.”
