A 26-year-old man ran over his 31-year-old ex-girlfriend on Saturday morning (29) in Parque Novo Mundo, north of São Paulo. He hit her with a black Golf on a street giving access to the Tete seafront and continued driving even with her body pinned to the car.
The victim was rescued and taken to the Viridor José Storopoli Municipal Hospital. Due to the deep injuries, her legs were amputated.
Surveillance cameras recorded the collision. Drivers nearby also filmed the car with the woman’s body being dragged along part of Tete’s seafront.
The Public Security Secretariat said in a statement that it was investigating the case as an attempted murder of women. The driver was not arrested. But according to the ministry, he has been identified and measures are being taken to locate him.
“So far, the investigation indicates that he intended to run over and kill the victim,” the memo said. The case was registered in DP 73 (Jasana) as attempted murder of women.
According to the police report, the collision occurred near a bar, and people who were there witnessed the entire incident.
An employee of the institution told the police that the driver acted intentionally, running over the victim and running over her.
When the woman was already under the car, the driver had pulled the handbrake and made sudden movements with the car.
