The Colombian is angry with Lula’s government – 11/30/2025 – Painting

The president of the Senate, Davi Alcolombre (União Brasil-AP), is upset and insulted by the accusation that he requested positions from Lula’s government (PT) in exchange for Jorge Mesías’ approval of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), according to people close to him.

This is one of the explanations given by the senator’s allies for the harsh memorandum he issued on Sunday (30) against “sectors of the executive branch.” Those who spoke to Alcolumbre say that the recipient of the note (almost an open letter) had the correct address: Palácio do Planalto.

The senator feels personally uneasy about the news about an alleged counterpart who was asked to approve Messias: the presidency of Banco do Brasil, Caixa, the CVM (Securities Commission), CED (Administrative Council for Economic Defense), and ANA (National Water Agency).

The Colombian told his allies that he was even considering second-tier positions and that he never treated these appointments as a form of compensation for the fact that Lula chose Messias instead of Senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), his friendly brother.

Sunday’s memo was also motivated by another unease with the government. Alcolombre was not notified before Mesías was selected, but the situation was made worse by the fact that Palacio do Planalto had not officially sent the nomination to the Senate.

Residents of Amapa see the delay as an insult to the Senate, according to one interviewer, as the government had enough time to announce the selection, publishing a photo of Mesías with Lula on the president’s social networks and publishing it in the DOU (Official Gazette of the Union).

“It confuses the Senate that it has not yet sent the written letter, which appears to seek to unjustifiably interfere with the timetable established by the House of Representatives, which is the exclusive prerogative of the federal Senate,” Alcolombre said in the memo.

A person close to the senator says she has already made it clear that, with or without a letter, Jesus will be questioned and his name will be put to a vote on December 10.

As Monica Bergamo’s column showed, Alcolombre went so far as to say that if the government does not send the documents soon, it will print the page of the national identity document with Messias’ reference and send it to the senators in the Committee on the Constitution and Justice, where the hearing is being held.

Those close to the senator claim that the institutional relationship between the Senate and Palacio do Planalto has collapsed.

An interlocutor from Alcolombre says that the president has no problems with Lula or with the leader of the Senate, Jacques Wagner (PT-BA), for example, but he believes that the situation requires radical change, of course.
