The Cali Mayor’s Office officially presented details of the 2025 Christmas lighting as part of the launch of the “Cali, Branch of Christmas” strategy, an initiative that integrates the natural wealth and Christmas traditions of Valle del Cauca with technological and artistic innovation.
The long-awaited lighting begins on Sunday, December 7 and will be available until the first week of January. With the aim of providing an immersive experience that promotes reconciliation among citizens and economic revitalization in the capital of Valle del Cauca. Director of the Special Administrative Unit for Public Services, Diego Howe, explained that the main inspiration for the lighting is “the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem for the birth of Jesus, but reinterpreted with a local perspective. Through a magical journey, the holy couple travels through different landscapes of Valle del Cauca.”
In this sense, The main road, located in Bolivar del Río, consists of nine thematic areas, each representing regional biodiversity, flora and fauna. Howe explained that innovation in materials will allow, through organic and special fabrics, the lighting can be enjoyed day and night, evoking the farallons, endemic species and colors of ancestral craftsmanship in the region.
In addition to artistic value, lighting was conceived as a tool for social and economic recovery. According to the mayor’s office, a strategic agreement was reached with informal vendors, with 450 of them signing pledges aimed at nurturing public space and ensuring good practices in food management. “This lighting is a tribute to our people: to those who care, build and clean. It is an act that unites the craftsmen, engineers and hundreds of hands of Cali. Thus, through actions, we reclaim Cali,” Howe stressed during the presentation.

Visitors’ response was positive. Burma Chavez, an Ecuadorian tourist, expressed her enthusiasm for the Christmas fair and salsa garden atmosphere, while Yamileth Alvarez, a local assistant, highlighted the opportunity that seasonal events represent to promote and highlight the city.
