Maybe it was the last time

Goodbye, goodbye?: Miranda marveled at La Plata: Maybe this was the last time

Miranda at the racetrack: Juliana Gattas and Allie Sergei are going to take some time

Music lovers from La Plata will not know how to enjoy the weekend: this weekend the city received a visit from La Mona Jiménez, Lito Nebbia, Ligia Peru and Miranda. But most of all, the two shows given by the duo Alli Sergi and Giuliana Gatas at the Hippodromo de la Plata had the scent of history: this was perhaps the band’s last time in La Plata, and their penultimate show in history.

Rumors of a breakup surrounded the duo last week, and they confirmed that something was up, announcing that the concert they will give in Vero, on December 20, will be their last until 2027. However, on stage, no discontent was noticed between Gatas and Sergei: with the usual chemistry and that playful and cheerful attitude that characterizes them, they lit up the night of the Hippodrome, in a remake of Nights Capitals.

With tickets sold out for both nights, there was no shortage of outrage when all the hits were played: “Perfecta”, “Don”, “Yo te diré”, “Prisionero”, “Casualidad”, some in new versions of “Hotel Miranda” and “Nuevo Hotel Miranda”, and others expanded to transform them from 3-minute songs into real atmospheric moments of the La Plata night. Meanwhile, they took advantage of each song to show off a glamorous new outfit: there was no shortage of colors and partying.

Breakup?

And yet… Even though Miranda has the people of La Plata dancing, the duo that reigns supreme in Argentine pop music may be on the verge of breaking up. At least they’ll have a break: “last show until 2027”, they announced when confirming the third date at Caballetto’s Ferrocarrel Oeste stadium. And they don’t take time off to go to study: something happens.

But it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is. The one with the strongest hypothesis is Angel De Brito, who said that there is tension between Sergei and Gatas, and that what is being spun may be a pause or a final separation.

One possibility is that both musicians want to focus on solo projects in the coming years, De Brito explained. However, he also hinted that there will be internal tensions within the duo. “The other version I have is that Sergei has a bulge in Juliana’s balls. He’s very elegant, very powerful; she’s crazier, and it’s on a different tune,” he revealed.

For De Brito, it is a separation “until further notice.” It seems clear that something is going on: that the band is slowing down now, considering that in 2025 they had full-fledged concerts everywhere, international tours, awards, and even Dua Lipa singing her songs is not entirely intelligible. However, there are others who say that nothing happens. Instead, the show’s producer, Matthias Micheli, said that the band will take a break during 2026 to recover from a busy schedule, denying the presence of serious internal conflicts.

Time, of course, will tell.
