A podcast discussing how Brazilians see – Folha – 12/01/2025 – Podcasts

A country of religious people, who value family and are tied to tradition – with a more right-wing and conservative political profile. But also a country where every income group, gender, region and age sees the same place and themselves in different ways. It remains a country shrouded in ambiguity on issues such as prejudice, inequality and security.

These are some of the conclusions of the “Brazil in the Mirror” research, which was conducted by the “Quest” organization at the end of 2023 with the participation of 9,994 people, spread across 340 cities in all states and the Federal District. A full analysis of the data is now being carried out, with the launch of a book of the same name by Globo Levros.

The researchers sought to build a map of values, attitudes and perceptions, using 11 dimensions that describe the country, including religiosity, honesty, meritocracy, discrimination, gender, national identity and trust.

Monday’s (1st) Breakfast talks about the key findings of the research, discusses how values figure in political choices and behaviour, and analyzes what this societal picture might suggest about the country’s future. The podcast interviews political scientist Felipe Nunes, CEO of Quaest and author of “O Brasil no Espelho.”
