The gold medal in the men’s competition went to Santa Monica duo Reedy De Encino, Ryan Carlantonio, 17, and Luann Pimentel, 18. In the grand final they beat Luz de Siber’s duo, João Vitor Vieira and Mateus de Lima, aged 17 and 16 respectively.

Ryan captured his second championship, but he wants more next year, when he graduates from high school.

— This victory is the result of the commitment and responsibility we have learned to represent our school in competitions. The third championship next year is in God’s hands, but we will make an effort to achieve this achievement on the field. Now it’s time to celebrate, because winning in this heat was very difficult – this is what the young man reveals.

Luan, the gold medal partner, agreed with his colleague that the biggest challenges of the day were the heat and wind, which changed the course of the ball on the most decisive shots of the match.

Actually, the match was good. Although they won 2 sets to 0, Santa Monica Rede de Encino had to fight back in the second stage. They were tied at 13-13 until finally getting the better of Luz de Sabre. Final: 18 to 13 in the second set for Santa Monica.
