These last two are the most promising, with both games possibly debuting in 2026; however, Sam Fisher’s return is mired in the same darkness which he uses on his missions…

Five years have passed without almost any official news about the remake. Fortunately, now comes good news, and from the mouth of whoever was its original director.

The Splinter Cell remake has its director back

David Grivel, original director of the Splinter Cell remake, revealed on LinkedIn that take the reins of the project again.

In the message, Grivel celebrates his return to the game, hand in hand with “a team that is very special to me, as much as this project”.

Therefore, There will be no need for a third director for Splinter Cell. This was what the job offer published in October suggested, requesting the replacement of whoever replaced Grivel.

But let’s go in parts. The creative He was responsible for the remake from November 2021 to October 2022. That’s when he decided to move to another company.

Their next stop was Ridgeline Gameswho he worked with on Battlefield 6. That team would close in March 2024, leaving Grivel with no known work.

In the summer of that year, David returned to Ubisoft Toronto…The same studio he left in 2022. He stayed there for a few months, working on a game that has not yet been announced.

But it seems that bad luck was on his side: Grivel signed a contract Worlds Untold, another developer also closed.

The designer had to maintain constant contact with Ubisoft, as returned to the company for the third time. Let’s hope he’s also “third time lucky” for the remake.

Splinter Cell Remake will use the Snowdrop Enginethe same one that was used in The Division 2 and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

This visual update will be reflected in the gameplay: It will be modernized, but maintaining all the essential elements of the original game.

If 2026 is going to have two remakes from Ubisoft, it’s hard to think that it will add a third, with the debut of Splinter Cell. Everything indicates that We will have to wait for its release, on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
