The Philippines, Guatemala and Nicaragua open markets for Brazilian agricultural products

In a joint memorandum, the Ministries of Agriculture and Foreign Affairs announced new foreign trade agreements; Find out what items are part of the release

Brasilia – Brazil will be able to export new agricultural products to it Filipino, Guatemala and Nicaraguareport Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Foreign Affairsin a joint memorandum.

To the Philippines, Brazil will be able to export beef fat. Guatemala allowed the entry of processed (hulled) rice from Brazil, while Nicaragua allowed the import of Brazilian millet, sunn hemp and rapeseed seeds.

The opening of the markets was announced after the conclusion of the sanitary and phytosanitary negotiations between Brazil and each country.

Regarding the trade of Brazilian beef fat to the Philippines, the ministries reported that the inputs are used in the food industry and in the production of biofuels, especially sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

“The Philippines, with a population of approximately 115 million, is one of the largest consumer markets in Southeast Asia. Between January and October 2025, the country imported approximately US$1.5 billion in agricultural products from Brazil,” the ministries stressed.

In Guatemala, to which Brazil will be able to export paddy rice, this license will provide access to a market with a population of about 18 million people. The country already exports mainly grain there. Shipments of Brazilian agricultural products to Guatemala amounted to US$192 million this year.

During the year, the country achieved 196 market opening opportunities for national agribusiness products. The strategy, according to the ministries, is to diversify destinations and products, including items with greater added value.
