“I have never had any disagreement with Dr. Jorge Mesías, with whom I have always had an institutional dialogue on various topics (disarmament, parliamentary amendments to the budget, environmental and tax issues, etc.),” he began.

“My ‘silence’ is the result of my wise distancing from a politically controversial issue, which is still under consideration in the Federal Senate,” Dino concluded in a press statement. “At the appropriate time, and after the legitimate deliberations of senators, I will be able to speak out, if appropriate.”

The demonstration took place after questions about the minister’s failure to greet the person appointed by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (Workers’ Party) to take over the seat vacated by the retired minister. Luis Roberto Barroso.

Dino’s note arrives in the middle of a struggle between Palacio do Planalto and the President of the Senate, David Alcolombre (Uniao Brasil – AFP). previously, Alcumbre expressed his dissatisfaction with the appointment of Messias and expressed his preference for Senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) for the position.

“If the President of the Republic has the right to nominate a Minister for the Strategic Strategic Fund, then the Senate also has the right to approve or reject the name. It is essential, in this process, that the powers respect each other and that each performs its role in accordance with constitutional and regulatory standards,” Colombre noted in a general note.

He added: “On the part of this presidency, absolutely nothing outside the process will be able to interfere with the Senate’s free, sovereign and informed decision on what paths to pursue.”

President Lula met on Monday with the Rapporteur of the Nominations of the Commission on the Constitution and Justice, Senator Weverton Rocha (PDT-MA), which is expected to deliver its opinion on Wednesday.

As it turns out condition, President Lula’s appointment of Messias was announced at a time considered inopportune and he must face resistance and powerful opponents.
