Ayuso’s People’s Party and Sánchez’s delegate show their separation to the Constitution Party

The breakdown in relations between Sanchez’s government delegate, Francisco Martín, and Ayuso’s People’s Party has become well established and is now part of Madrid’s political landscape. This week, on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the Constitution, they will once again come into direct collision. First of all, the Regional President did not invite the delegate to the institutional party at the Real Casa de Correos, next Friday, and once again organized an alternative event, to which all parties were invited. The People’s Party in Madrid has already announced that it does not intend to attend because the “Sanchista Delegate” is part of the “Demolish the Constitution” project.

The battle between the delegate and the People’s Party in Madrid goes back a long time. Last year, Ayuso decided that a representative of the Sánchez government would not give his own speech at the Constitution Gala in Puerta del Sol. The previous experience was disastrous, with an exchange of accusations at Real Casa de Curios, and a bitter confrontation that left a bad taste in everyone’s mouths. The President decided a year later, in December 2024, that she would change the format of the event and the delegate would no longer have her own speech. Francisco Martin denounced that for the first time the group did not want to organize this event with the delegation.

Only a few months later, in March of this year 2025, there was an “official” break in relations, when the delegate blamed Ayuso and his government for deaths in residences during the epidemic: “They forced 7,291 elderly people to a cruel and humiliating death.” “Enough is enough,” said the Madrid president. From that moment on, the relationship was completely broken off, except for purely official matters.

Now, facing the upcoming anniversary of the Constitution, Ayuso did not want to invite any representative of the Sánchez government to the Puerta del Sol, including the delegate. This has again organized an alternative event, which will be held on the same day, and at approximately the same time, in the pious schools of UNED. The People’s Party in Madrid has already announced that it will plant a “Sanchista delegate”, as explained by the spokesman for the popular group in the Assembly, Carlos Díaz Pache.

PSOE and Más Madrid plan to attend both events: “We are an institutional party,” warns Bergerot

Madrid’s two left-wing parties in the regional parliament, PSOE and Más Madrid, plan to attend the two events to which they have been invited. “We are an institutional party,” Mas Madrid spokeswoman Manuela Bergerot said to justify her presence in Sol Con Ayuso. Vox, for its part, is also invited to the community event and the delegation event, but has not yet decided whether or not it will attend one or both.
