Taking advantage of the launch of the São Paulo Street Libraries Map, Estadão has created a circuit in the central area of São Paulo for exploration on foot
São Paulo has just won the map of street bookstores, which includes 37 bookstores spread across different areas of the city. One way to get to know each of them is to walk – and it’s quite possible.
To help the reader, condition I have prepared an itinerary in which you can explore part of Mapa’s 37 libraries located in the central area, including the neighborhoods of Santa Cecilia, Villa Buarque and Repubblica.
- Eiffel Library: Praça da República, 183. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The next station is Martinez Fontes Libraryon the authority of Dr. Vila Nova. With a very diverse collection, with more than 25 thousand titles, it is the oldest on the circuit, founded in 1985. On the mezzanine there is space for events. You may be lucky enough to participate in one there during your visit.
- Martinez Fontes Library: Rua Dr. Vila Nova, 309. Open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. www.martinsfontespaulista.com.br.
Walk a little further, you will reach Stardust panca geek queerled by young Spaniard Carlos Cercos, who decided to take a collection of books and art made by LGBTQIAPN+ individuals to the abandoned platform on the corner of Vila Buarque.
- Punta de Spire Library: R Aureliano Coutinho, 26 years old. Open Tuesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Instagram: @livrariapontadelanca
The circuit ends at Rua Barão de Tatuí, where the last two libraries on the route are: Graphic libraryFocus on books that talk about books, and Tatoi BankWhich differs from others because of its collection dedicated to books published by independent publishers. The two libraries are part of the same group as Editora Lote 42, which is also located in Barão de Tatuí.
- Tatoi Bank: Rua Barão de Tatuí, 275. Open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. https://www.bancatatui.com.br/
