Minister Carlos Favaro (Agriculture) has stated that he does not intend to resume his term as Senator to vote on the nomination of the Attorney General of the Federation, Jorge Mesías, for the vacant position of Luis Roberto Barroso on the STF (Federal Supreme Court).
“My deputy votes with Jorge Mesías,” he told the committee.
Favaro’s second deputy, José Lacerda (PSD-MT), took office on October 1, after a political agreement in which he replaced Marguerite Buzzetti (PP-MT), the first alternative, who voted for Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in 2022 and had alarmed Lula’s government due to its alignment with Bolsonarianism.
In July this year, Buzzetti described MP Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) as a “child” and stated that he was responsible for targeting his father, at the time, for precautionary measures such as the use of an electronic ankle bracelet.
