The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) announced the cessation of marketing, withdrawal from the market, and refund of the batch of 335 Saudi riyals of Yepoda cosmetics – The Cocoa Cloud, which is the body butter listed in the 2025 advent calendar for the Yepoda brand, specifically on the 8th of this month.
As reported by the responsible company, COSMETRADE, SL, the affected batch showed growth of microorganisms Pseudomonas aeruginosa After use, due to loss of effectiveness of the preservative. The presence of these microorganisms can pose a health risk, especially in people with wounds or weak defenses.
These microorganisms “are characterized by the production of a variety of pigments, such as pyocyanin (blue-green), pyoverdine (yellow-green fluorescent pigment) and purubin (red),” noted the National Institute for Safety and Health at Work (INSST).
Yepoda reported the incident via its website, the only channel through which the product was marketed in Spain, and contacted those who purchased the product via email.
For its part, AEMPS has transmitted information to health authorities in the autonomous regions to monitor the withdrawal.
Although the company has voluntarily begun recalling and retrieving all distributed units, health authorities recommend that anyone who has a unit from the batch in question refrain from using it and contact the responsible company to process its return.
