CEB Privatization: Neoenergia Successes in DF

Amidst works that modernize entire administrative areas, such as the new Juara substation, and social projects that have already changed the lives of thousands of families, the distributor is promoting a role that goes beyond just providing energy: building development, dignity and opportunity.

In an interview with CapitalsCEO Federico Candian shares unprecedented developments and recognitions, such as the Abradi Prize and the GPTW, and a commitment that, according to him, is “not technical, but human”.

Neoenergia is about to complete five years in DF. What is the balance of this path?

These five years tell a story of transformation. Since 2021, we have invested more than R$1.2 billion in expanding the electrical infrastructure to keep pace with the growth of the Federal District, modernize the grid and make the system smarter.

But to me, the real investment shows up in the impact on people: residents who have regular power, customers who have fewer outages, and communities that now feel closer to the company.

In March 2026, we’re not just celebrating an anniversary – we’re celebrating a solidified commitment to better services for all DF residents.

What are the highlights of infrastructure and network expansion?

The big landmark is the Guara substation, which will be opened next year with an investment of R$32 million and which will provide greater reliability for the 180,000 people living in the area. But this is just one example.

We will have investments in the Aguas Claras substation, the modernization of the Brasilia Norte substation and reinforcements in the electrical system in Mongolo, Braslandia and Mangueral.

In addition to the amount of R $ 25 million allocated to modernize the subway network in Plano Piloto and Sudwest. These actions make a huge difference to those who depend on energy to live, work and study.

In customer service, what has changed during these five years?

We have evolved a lot, with the aim of serving our customers better. We created more flexible digital channels, enhanced humanitarian service, launched a 100% electric mobile branch, and brought personal services closer to those who need it most.

Our call center has almost completely reduced abandoned calls. We truly put the customer at the center. It is not talk, but daily practice.

Neoenergia has a strong social role. How does this translate into practice?

We believe that energy is citizenship. We have allocated R$9.4 million through the Cultural Incentives Law (LIC-DF) between 2022 and 2024; In 2025 alone, we supported 20 projects amounting to R$6.6 million.

There is a special affection for the School of Electricians, where we have already graduated 434 students, 45% of whom are women, and placed 348.

It is real integration: people gain a career, income and self-esteem.

The Citizen Energy Program has gained a clear vision. What do you represent?

It represents dignity. Since 2021, we have already regulated energy for more than 50,000 households, in line with the legal authority of the Federal District Government.

This means that 150,000 people no longer live in a state of insecurity and risks posed by electrical improvisation.

In 2025 alone, 15,000 clients will benefit from this program with investments amounting to R$ 32.5 million.

By 2030, we want to reach another 25,000 families. This is work that fills us with pride.

Neoenergia Brasília recently received important awards. What do these confessions mean?

These admissions show that we are moving in the right direction. Winning the Brazilian Electricity Distributors Association (Abradee) award for the first time, in the Performance Development category, was historic for us.

Being recognized as a Great Company to Work For by Great Place to Work (GPTW) proves that when we take care of those who work with us, we automatically take care of our customers.

We are a company made by people, and this reflects in the results.

How did the distributor prepare for climate challenges such as a period of heavy rain?

With a lot of planning. We have tripled the number of field teams, expanded our 24-hour Integrated Operations Center (COI), and strengthened preventive measures.

DF has experienced extreme periods, yet the impact has been subtle. Speed and security are our priorities.

What are the next steps for Neoenergia Brasília?

Continue investing in the electrical system and in people. We have R$1.2 billion planned for the next five years.

We will continue to expand the electric system, expand access, promote social inclusion, and make the development fund more flexible.

We don’t just want to save energy, we want to achieve sustainable development.
