The shooter Cefet was from CAC and used a registered weapon to kill the servers

The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro is investigating the attack that ended in the killing of director Alain de Souza Pedrotti Matos, 41, and school psychologist Laise Costa Pinheiro, in a femicide, inside the Federal Center for Technological Education Celso Soco da Fonseca (CEVET), in Maracanã, last Friday (28/11).

The perpetrator, technical administrative employee João Antonio Miranda Tello Ramos, was found dead shortly after the shooting.

According to the investigation by the D.C. Homicide Police Department (DHC), João used a .380 caliber Glock pistol registered in his name.

He had a certificate of registration as a CAC, a class that combines collectors, shooters and hunters, which allowed him to obtain the gun.

Deliberate attack

Reports collected by the police indicate that João arrived on campus in the morning and greeted his colleagues normally.

Hours later, in the afternoon, he entered the Education Department and shot the two employees. Alan was injured in the head and shoulder. Liz was shot in the head and chest.

They were transferred to the municipal hospital in Sousa Aguiar in the center, but they did not survive their injuries.

After the attack, João was found dead in an adjacent room, next to the rifle and dozens of ammunition. DHC’s main hypothesis is that he committed suicide.

Motivation: misogyny and rejection of female leadership

Witness statements to the civil police indicate that João did not accept being led by a woman and maintained his hostile behavior towards his superiors.

This is the main line that supports the investigation of femicide, murders motivated by the sex of the victim.

Waking up and making noise

The two servants were buried this Sunday (the first). Allan was buried in the Jardim da Saudad Cemetery, in Paciencia, in the Western Region.

Layse was buried in the São João Batista Cemetery, in Botafogo, in the southern region.

The Sivit School community declared mourning and suspended academic activities over the weekend. Teachers and students are organizing events in honor of the victims and demanding security measures on campus.
